The Social Change Living Learning Community (LLC) is committed to developing leaders
who have a positive impact on their communities and the world.
Students will explore six social change pathways through LLC programming:
1) Direct Service
2) Community Organizing and Activism
3) Philanthropy
4) Policy and Governance
5) Community Engaged Learning and Research
6) Social Entrepreneurship and Corporate Social Responsibility.
The LLC provides a supportive community of peers who live, learn, and engage together
as they develop essential skills and knowledge to become lifelong changemakers.
This LLC is a partnership between the Office of Civic Engagement and Social Responsibility
and Housing and Residence Life.
The Social Change LLC is located in the Glen Complex. The Glen Complex consists of four high-rise residence halls and a dining facility. All student bedrooms are suite-style (two bedrooms with a bathroom in the middle; students in these rooms are responsible for cleaning the bathroom). Rooms are traditionally for 2 students.
The LLC is open to all students with an interest in social change. Students who apply should be committed to moving onto campus two days early in order to participate in the LLC’s orientation experience.
Students will move in two days early to partake in an orientation experience with a focus on community building, creative expression, and civic action workshops to kickstart their journey as a member of the Social Change LLC.
Heather Polonsky, Assistant Director for Civic Engagement, Office of Civic Engagement and Social Responsibility
“ The Social Change LLC is rooted in the belief that all of us have the power to make a lasting and positive impact. By participating in the LLC, students learn which pathways align with their passions to address issues impacting their communities and the world. â€
